South Australia's award winning Wilpena Pound Resort is located in the heart of the Flinders Ranges, and consists of 60 resort rooms, 15 'glamping' safari tents and an extensive bush campground.
The only accommodation inside the National Park, the Wilpena Pound Resort is located at the entrance to Wilpena Pound. The property is covered with towering red river gums and is home to kangaroos and emus who wander the grounds, and wedge-tail eagles who soar high above.
Accommodation options include resort rooms, family rooms with kitchenettes, glamping safari tents, as well as powered and unpowered campsites.
As one of only a few Aboriginal owned and operated resorts in Australia, the standout feature of the resort is its Aboriginal cultural experiences. The popular Yura Udnyu guided walk teaches you about the diversity of the land, native animals, native bush-tucker which changes with the season, and Yura culture and history. “Yura” is the name for Adnyamathanha people and “Udnyu” means white, so this tour covers the intertwining histories of both cultures.
As well as a bar, bistro and a swimming pool, the property has an IGA Xpress store, and an on-site Visitor Information Centre offering 4WD tours by Aboriginal guides, and scenic flights over Wilpena Pound, the Flinders Ranges and further afield to Lake Eyre.
